MollyPet Name: Molly Hey Giles Co. Shelter, I adopted a pup from your shelter in September of 2010 and would love to share my success story with you! Mollie was a one year blue heeler puppy when I adopted her in September 2010. Her shelter name was Cheyenne and she was the last of 4 blue heeler pups found as strays. Sadly two of the pups died of parvo and fortunately the third got adopted just before I adopted Mollie. When I got Mollie she did not like the leash and did not know how to walk up stairs, she was also not very keen of being trained, a wild dog! Today Mollie loves going on runs on the leash with her harness as well as sprinting up the stairs (we have races), and as been trained to stop and sit at every crosswalk. Mollie has taken leaps and bounds since September and she is still learning! She is now best friends with another addition to the family, a Siamese/tabby kitten. It is not uncommon to see them licking each other or sleeping next to each other! This breed is typically not fond of cats or dogs but Mollie has proven she loves them both! This breed is also "suspicious of strangers," which Mollie is and it takes time to get warmed up to someone new. We are making progress and I LOVE watching my heeler as she turns into an adult dog! Terrier AdoptedPet Name: Optimus I received a letter from Christine Link-Owens thanking us for a donation and requesting a picture of Optimus (who we adopted in September from the shelter) in his new home. I attached some of our favorite pictures of him. Again thank you for all of your hard work you do for the animals and the community. Puppy that beat the oddsPet Name: Clover Anne I just found your site and thought I would send you our success story! I adopted Clover Anne, a 12 week old Basenji-mix puppy, on March 16th, 2002. Clover was a Parvo-puppy, but after some time in the hospital and a lot of love she's been a very healthy, happy (and spoiled!) girl! I've attached some pictures of miss Clover, then and now. Catching up with our sweetie piesPet Name: Otis & Clem & Daisy & Mimi & Tyra & Diamond Just checking up on some of the Giles pound dogs that have been adopted: Otis, Clem and Daisy Duke - the speckled JackRussel-Blue Heelers found the perfect homes to fulfill their birth mission - extra cuddling! Elegant little Mimi whose ears tipped at the ends is being suitably pampered. Tyra is getting the right amount of exercise from an understanding owner so we won't call her Tyra the Terrible anymore. Even old Diamond Girl, a very senior proper lady, found just the right home to appreciate her canine wisdom and easy affection. All these critters were GCAR fosters which meant they got the extra life-giving days needed to send them to new homes! |
Lucky Me!!!Pet Name: Sparkle Is this not the most cutest-sweetest-prettiest little dog that ever set foot in Giles County? She is perfect in every way! Unbelievably she was at the pound for a month and to my incredible luck no one wanted her! So I got to adopt her! Yaaaaay!!!! |
