MD-173-13: Small German Shepherd Mix - ADOPTED!!Name: Sandy Status: Saved - Adopted Age: 1 year Sex: Female Breed: German Shepherd Mix Description: MD-173-13, aka “Sandy,” is a female German Shepherd mix who was surrendered by her owners on 4/10/13. She is about 1 yr old and weighs approximately 35 pounds. This sweet girl passed all portions of her behavior test. She did well with other dogs and showed NO food aggression. She is calm and enjoyed interaction with her handlers. Sandy enjoyed being touched and hugged. She is shy at first, but warms up quickly. She plays just fine with other dogs and did well with a volunteer's 6 year old son. She is spayed and vaccinated. She is in GCAR foster care and for Adoption from GCAR (NOT at the shelter). #654-12, Staffordshire Terrier ADOPTED!!Name: Carlos Status: Saved - Adopted Age: 2 years Sex: Male Breed: Staffordshire Terrier Description: MD-654-12 is a male Mixed Breed who was surrendered by his owners on 10/17/12. He is 2 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. He is very sweet and eager to learn. This lovable boy would make a great addition to your home! Available immediately. He is neutered and vaccinated. The adoption fee is $100 and an adoption application required. He is no longer at the shelter, in foster care. 12/6/12 Update from foster family: He's calmed down quite a bit, but still gets excited when he's first let out, first sees a new dog, first sees a new person, etc. He calms down quickly though and has not jumped on anyone in weeks. He now walks well on a leash, sits, lies down (it takes a while for him to do this without treats), and "waits" for things very well: for food, going outside, going for a walk, getting out of his crate, coming back inside, etc. Right now we're working on "stay" and "leave it". Carlos, his new name, is fully housetrained and would do well with children and other dogs. However, with cats, he can't resist the urge to chase them. He won't hurt them, but can be crazy with the chase...however, he wants to please his caretaker and if she commands him to 'leave it', he does. ADOPTED!!!
